Fast-Writes
Please respond to each of the following questions, writing for no more and no less than 3 minutes in response to each question:
Most of the times my outward apperarance reflects the culture around me. Some of my "looks" is tuned with the trend but some not. I don't agree all the time with the fashion of today. I don't feel obliged to follow trends and at the same time I know that I must conform myself, but not 100%, with the flow of cultural appearance. In the past I had a time where I follow the trend as it is dictated; in a posterior time I became a kind of rebel, doing almost everything differently, to shock people. Today I know I am myself, as much as I can be. I believe to be balanced.
Basically, what I have to say here follows what I wrote above, above outward apperance. My rituals, daily activities, routines, habits and etc, reflects my cultural identity in general terms. I always let room for "uniqueness", that is, for what I am and want to express it. I say that inside of each item mentioned, there is something different from what usually happens in the cultural times and place I live, and this is good. It is healthy to go against the flow, if it is really the expression of yourself, and not go against just in order to be different.
In this subject, I reflect the official cultural identity. Unfortunatelly, the practice of every day does not reflect, as a general idea in our society, what people SAY they believe. And what is worst, in my opinion, there are those who don't even are aware of such contradictory behavior and beliefs. I try to live my life according the what I should be in order to not hurt anybody. I try to pratice what my cultural identity tells me to do. And this is very liberating. Always and each time more and more.
Here I can say that my hygienic routines, meals and mealtimes, food choices and daily chores are in close reflection with my cultural identity. What is not so close is the meals I take. I should eat even better, in a healthier way. This is a very changed subject and practice in my life because in the past I was not doing my dietary and domestic practices in a way that reflect my cultural identity. But the human being is a reality in constant change, and change for better, when the person gives him/herself the chance to be a better person.
This is very well balanced. I live in a place, local and considering longer distances, where my cultural identity can be expressed without much controversy. I had already lived in places that didn't support my cultural identity. It was not a big problem, but now I have more confidence in expressing myself because, also, the support given me.
This happens frequently. I try to live in a way that reflects what I believe. I have been judge and excluded for dressing myself in a simple manner, not giving importance for the "quality and trendy" kind of clothing I was wearing. I have been misunderstood when I don't follow the flow in society when I don't give importance and don't help spread gossips and negative talk. Once I was excluded from a group of friends from work because I critized the way they were referring to some collegues at work. It was very hard stand for what I beliveve, but it is rewarding to be oneself, specially in the right way.

Writer's Journal #8 - Fast-Writes
OVERVIEW
While structured, planned writing is necessary when writing for audiences, sometimes we write to learn or work out ideas. In these cases, it is often helpful to push ourselves to work through ideas quickly and not get slowed down by thinking about how we prepare that writing for an audience. We can often achieve writing “breakthroughs” with such activities.
DIRECTIONS
In this Writer’s Journal, you will have the opportunity to explore this kind of writing through a series of “fast writes.” To complete a fast write, you need to set a timer and write for the entire time period that you set (don’t stop writing!). The following fast writes will help you to think about many of the ideas and issues raised this week, and they will also give you practice writing in this fun genre. Please respond to each of the following questions, writing for no more and no less than 3 minutes in response to each question:
Stick to the timeline. Be sure to be as detailed and thorough as possible, and use examples to help explain your response. Be sure to read over your response to be sure it says what you want it to say.
