Outcomes Reflection

In the first week I learned that writing is a matter of knowledge, dedication, commitment and ... being myself.

For my surprise, I found the autcomes very inspiring, the videos very instructive and, together with the texts, the videos give clear directions about writing.

Setting up the Weebly pages was a bit confusing in the beginning, but with some study it came to life. The course outcomes are inspiring and goal oriented.

They teach me that academic writing is possible when we follow certain instructions and put the heart and head to work. So, this is different from other writing courses I've been taking recently.

I thought it would be "just another course". How wrong was I.  I can see, in only one week, that there is something very positive and creative about this course.

It was a bit confusing setting up the Weebly pages, but not confusion about the course outcomes. The course outcomes tells me that academic writing is possible when we follow certain instructions and put the heart and head to work.

Instructions:

Writer’s Journal #1 – Outcomes Reflection

Overview The writing outcomes in this class help to define what “academic writing” means for our English 101 community and for many academic writing communities. They help us understand what academic writing and writers should aspire to, but they can also help us compose in other contexts, for other purposes, and with other audiences.

Directions For this first Writer’s Journal assignment, please think about what you have learned this week, and answer the following questions:

What do you find surprising about the course outcomes?

What do you find confusing about the course outcomes?

What do the course outcomes tell you about academic writing, and how is this different from or similar to writing you do in other contexts of your life?

Be sure to be as detailed and thorough as possible, and use examples to help explain your response. Be sure to read over your response to be sure it says what you want it to say.
